One major reason that it can feel like you so desperately want to just eat at the end of the day in order to decompress (even if you're not actually hungry- often called night time eating or emotional eating)- is because WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY NEEDING IS:

TO CALM YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM.

A lot of women find themselves eating late night because their nervous systems are still activated from that day -- in fact, for many of us (*me included!) -- our nervous system is activated DAILY in our modern day world. Even multiple times on any given day.

I hear this a lot...
"Brenda, I know that overeating is keeping me from my goal, but I just don't know ANY other way to unwind. Nothing else seems to work. It feels like ONLY food can give me just get a little bit of relief from EVERYTHING."

I want you to know that ALL of this makes SO MUCH SENSE. Also know: there IS a solution.

I recently heard somewhere (*I can't remember where or I’d quote it) --> that the average person TODAY hears more news in ONE DAY, then we used to hear in a year. :exploding_head:

As soon as I heard that, I thought to myself, Holy shit. Yes. That completely makes sense. Our brain wasn’t necessarily wired for the way that our modern-day life is set up these days... (*but again, there are solutions...)

This doesn’t have to be a problem.

There are SO MANY options for you.

I LOVE TO TRAVEL. I love vacations.

I mean, who doesn't right?!

Well, you'd think that was the case...
but so many women feel nervous, worried, fearful, and mistrusting of themselves because they don't believe they have the ability to ENJOY a vacation without 'total sabotage', without 'blowing it'.

[*ESPECIALLY as the world continues to 're-open' post covid, so perhaps you haven't been as accustomed to traveling for a while... ]

A lot of women don't believe it's actually possible to maintain a weight they feel good at WHILE ALSO traveling or vacationing as much and as often as they want to in their lives.

IT IS POSSIBLE.

But if it FEELS impossible, I get it.
For the longest time, travel without weight gain felt pretty much impossible for me, also.

Summer vacations and travel used to be a guaranteed:
-mental & emotional struggle
-tons of sabotage
-sooo much overeating that I ended up feeling physically sick and uncomfortable as a result of my 'F-it I'm on vacation' mentality.

The emotional roller coaster of losing and gaining weight, plus the physical discomfort of overeating to that degree used to  take so much away from my travel/vacation experiences.

I know I wasn't alone. Millions of women (*the majority) have these experiences that steal joy from their vacations and experiences, each year.

This is an episode you don't want to miss.

Physical Autonomy (as a skill) is a VERY big deal.

It's also THE THING that sets apart THE LAST 10 method from anything else out there.

When you have learned and developed PHYSICAL AUTONOMY as a skill...

-You can say NO to the things that you WANT to say NO to. (meaning, no more eating out of obligation or for fear of making someone 'feel bad')

-You can say YES to the things that you WANT to say YES to. (for example, the 12 pounds that you definitely want to lose- but you feel like you 'shouldn't' be so vain... or you're terrified of what your friends might think if they actually knew how much this matters to you...)

- You can make the decisions that you WANT to make for YOUR body- without feeling like you need to explain yourself, or hide, or apologize.

-You can take any food approach/strategy and tailor make it into your own. And never feel like you are 'dieting' ever again.-You can follow through on the kinds of decisions that you know will create the results you're wanting, without feeling restricted or deprived.

And get ready- because There’s NOTHING vanilla about this.

THIS CONCEPT IS BOLD.

It's a POWER STANCE.

Developing the skill of Physical Autonomy enables you to do exactly what you want to do. (ie. lose the weight you want to lose, change habits you want to change, etc) in a way that feels POWERFUL.

*The lack of Physical Autonomy results in: eating things out of obligation, being afraid or ashamed to have the goals you want, feeling restricted and deprived about your food choices, lack of motivation, resentment AND MORE.

AUTONOMY is defined as: the right to self-govern.

Physical Autonomy means...

HAVING THE RIGHT - AND THE ABILITY - TO MAKE ANY DECISION WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR BODY.

And yet, so much of our socialization as women (for generations, for centuries, and even millennia!) get's in the way of us feeling the FREEDOM AND POWER that we actually have when it comes to our own bodies.

In this episode you'll learn:
-What the heck is Physical Autonomy
-WHY it matters
-What it allows you to do (*or not do)
-A review of women's history, in order to help us understand why we can feel so alienated from our bodies and/or why it can feel so challenging to be completely unapologetic in the  decisions we make in regards to our bodies.

In this 3-part podcast series, I break down the ONLY 3 skills you need to lose this weight and empower your relationship with food.

I know that it can feel like losing ‘the last 10 pounds’ is only for a select few. It’s not.

Your weight loss can be made simple just by learning a process and THESE 3 SKILLS for losing weight.

These 3 skills make losing your weight and being DONE with the struggle more simple and approachable than ever.

AND YES, it's true- There’s TONS of approaches out there for losing weight.

THIS ONE is the most effective AND empowering.

In this episode: MENTAL FLEXIBILITY.

Mental flexibility is defined as the ability to change your course in thinking.

It's the process of uncovering the thoughts, beliefs, & perspectives that are keeping you stuck NOW and then also paired with the ability to be FLEXIBLE with approaching things a different way.

When you've learned the skill of MENTAL FLEXIBILITY, you then have ability (the mental flexibility!) to decide HOW you want to think and WHAT You want to believe. And this matters because ALL of your decisions (behaviors, actions) are determined by your thinking (aka your brain).

No matter what you’ve been thinking or believing up until now, Mental Flexibility is a skill that can be developed.

I break down the two things that allow our HUMAN BRAIN to develop Mental Flexibility as a skill -- Neuroplasticity and Metacognition.

HERE'S THE THING: When you feel like you’ve tried LITERALLY every single ‘diet’ and you end up sabotaging in the same ways - or ‘nothing works’ - that's because your decisions (which create your results) will ultimately, always be determined by your core beliefs (including your self concept) and your thinking.

There’s no getting around it.

Regardless what food approach you want to use or implement (*I can tell you that your 'food approach' matters the LEAST) IF you want to change any habits of overeating, emotional eating, sabotaging, lack of commitment, or quitting on your goal - you’ve gotta change YOUR THINKING.

Changing your beliefs and you thinking REQUIRE MENTAL FLEXIBILITY.

When you learn and develop the skillset of MENTAL FLEXIBILITY:
-You can literally follow ANY food plan you choose.
-You can lose the amount of weight that YOU decide you want to lose.
-You will feel unstoppable about your goal, EMPOWERED, and IN the drivers seat of THIS area of your life

(*important note: It's also a skill you'll NEED in order to MAINTAIN those results once you've created them)

THIS ONE SKILL SET ALONE will change the trajectory of your weight loss journey no matter how frustratingly stuck that you feel right now - or for how long - you've felt this stuck.

If you learn (and master) THIS ONE SKILL it will be 100% WORTH IT.

Mental Flexibility is a skill.
And just like any other skill, it must be learned.
(*that's the best news btw! because people aren't just 'born with it'. And this also means that if you don't have it YET, you can simply DEVELOP IT)

In this episode I  share with you a recent experience and WHY it matters so much for me to have dedicated the time, energy and attention to change and EMPOWER this area of my life that has to do with my weight, my body, and my relationship with food.

Spring is in full bloom. Summer is around the corner.

The weather is warming up, which means, less clothes and more skin!

The shorts start to come out, tank tops, and of course bathing suits.

It’s essential that as you are losing weight, and you continue to have personal breakthroughs with your specific weight loss goals (whether you’re on route to losing 75lbs or 7) that you know that feeling unapologetically confident, secure and comfortable in your own skin and body - comes from your mind- NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE WEARING.

Society teaches us to think of our goals and ‘achievement’ in a very limited binary way, either SUCCEEDED -OR- FAILED.

And this socialization goes deep, we've most definitely been programmed to think this way. Not only that, but our brain also defaults to whatever the most ‘efficient’ way of thinking about things, so it LOVED putting things into ‘easy’, quick categories.

Here’s what ALL of this means for YOU and YOUR WEIGHT LOSS GOAL:

It can be SO EASY to feel like a failure.
It can be SO EASY to feel like you’ve failed and to feel shame and deeply flawed.

→ Then when you’re feeling like you just can’t seem to lose the weight you want to lose and/or it’s taking too damn long- ALL OF THESE THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS ARE WHAT LEAD TO QUITTING AND SABOTAGE.

The quitting and the sabotage, then lead to stuckness and struggle

THIS IS WHY IT IS SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT to be onto yourself for any binary assessment, evaluation or judgment of your results.

I see this all. the. time. (and I experienced it myself for 2 decades!)

Someone will have a goal of losing 35 pounds-
and then proceed to lose 28 of those 35 pounds in 6 months (that’s more than a pound per week!) BUT THEN feel like a FAILURE for ‘not getting to my goal’.

The craziest part is THIS:
Because that person is feeling like a failure… they will start to tell themselves that ‘it’s not working’ (although it is!) and then STOP doing what IS working.
Start going back to the habits that create weight gain.

ALL BECAUSE THEY ARE JUDGING THEIR MEASURABLE RESULTS IN A BINARY WAY.

THE SOLUTION? 
NON-BINARY SUCCESS EVALUATION.

You have to CHOOSE TO SEE what IS working, what you ARE doing.

You have to CHOOSE TO SEE (and celebrate!) the results and changes you HAVE created.

You have to teach your brain to STOP making your success BINARY.

Meaning: STOP thinking about yourself and your goals in a way that if you don’t hit your exact goal  in the exact timeline that you had in mind ---> then you think of yourself as a failure, and you think of yourself as ‘having failed’.

The reason that I am able to CONTINUE every year creating breakthrough after breakthrough is because I REFUSE TO EVALUATE MY RESULTS IN A LIMITED BINARY WAY.

THIS mindset is exactly what allowed me to put an END to my weight struggle, and have breakthroughs ALL the way to the results I was wanting- NO MATTER HOW LONG I HAD STRUGGLED- and no matter how much learning and de-conditioning of habits and behaviors had to happen along the way.

The reason I'm always able to EXPAND MY ABILITIES, MY CAPACITY and MY RESULTS (with any goal, but including my weight goal) is this:

- I don’t set expiration dates on my goals.

I absolutely set dates, and I have timelines for my goals… BUT *IF I don’t ‘hit it’ by the time I thought that I would, I don’t make it mean it’s not possible or that I’m not capable - instead I CHOOSE TO FEEL PROUD for ALL THE NON-BINARY SUCCESS up to this point thus far.

I REFUSE TO EVALUATE MY MEASURABLE RESULTS in a LIMITED BINARY WAY

→ I LOOK AT ALL I'VE DONE. All I've learned. All the NEW AWARENESS I have. and so much more.

AND* (VERY IMPORTANT) I ALSO - without judgment - look at the areas where there is continued opportunity for growth, learning, further development of specific skills, and further growth in my belief.

I am willing to be curious about ANY limiting beliefs or ways of thinking I may still hold, that are potentially getting in the way. (so I can weed those suckers out!)

The most ironic thing of all- ESPECIALLY with weight loss goals…
Is that when you think about or evaluate your results in a BINARY way, that only keeps you feeling like sh*t.

Especially if you’ve had patterns of emotional eating, the more we feel like shit about ourselves- the more we feel like a ‘failure’ → the more we emotionally eat and sabotage.

NON-BINARY SUCCESS is where it’s at.

THIS approach will keep you moving IN the direction of your exact goal AND experiencing ongoing new breakthroughs in your results in a way that FEELING LIKE A FAILURE- NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL.

Today I'm sharing with you my EASY & JOYFUL maintenance philosophy (even if you're not 'at your goal' yet, this episode is a must listen!)

I’m tackling the topic of MAINTENANCE and ‘maintaining results’ from a refreshingly new lens.

One of the most frequent questions that I get is this:
‘Brenda I know how to LOSE weight, but what I struggle with is maintenance and maintaining those results, help!’

I'M ABLE TO ONGOING MAINTAIN THIS 80 POUND WEIGHT LOSS WITH EASE, AND JOY, AND LOVE as I am LIVING a full, amazing (sometimes-challenging!) life.

I’ve also coached 100’s of women who had once struggled with their weight for DECADES, and who now ALSO maintain their results with ease and joy and love.
